Group of Seven

My friend Adam is a really talented musician. Like Lauren O' Connell mentioned in the last post, Adam plays a variety of instruments himself and does all of his own writing, and recording independently. Adam is way smart because while some of us were out drinking and trying to do whatever it is we thought everyone was supposed to be doing, he was hunkering down and working on his music, and even today he continues to grow as a musician. I will include a link to one of his videos, but to get a true sense of where he is at now, you should check out his CBC Radio3 page where you can listen to his latest tunes: http://radio3.cbc.ca/#/bands/group-of-seven

Lauren O'Connell and Friends

So right now I am hooked on music by Lauren O'Connell. She has an awesome sound and I like the honest, indie approach to her craft. She experiments with a variety of different musical instruments and sounds. She has a great voice, interesting lyrics and solid sound. My favourite at the moment is "From Chambers, Slow." But all of the songs she has posted on YouTube touch my ear in a way I like. Other notables off the top of my head are a cover of "O' Death," "White Noise," and "the Daylight Here." Check out her tunes and her duets with her friends:

2) My Terrible Friend - When I Decide

3) Lauren O'Connell with Benjamin Jameson Morey - I was Very Small in Her Stomach
(Benjamin's solo songs are great as well! My favourite song of his is "I Don't Want to Die in a Hospital")

The Purpose

The Purpose of this blog is to share music that I like to share with other people that may not have heard of it before, or that I think will make people smile, or feel some sort of emotional response to. Hope you enjoy what I share with you. If you want to share something with me, I always love to hear new music as well. I like to write music but it is strictly recreational. I find coming up with words and ideas easy and enjoyable. But finding the time to come up with all the instrumental stuff and arrangements is a struggle. But who knows, maybe by the time I expire I will have put some thoughts to paper and turned that paper into something that resembles music I would like to share with people. It must be something remarkable to watch people listen to you and relate to what you're saying in song or be touched by the sounds you make. Anyways, enjoy, and thanks for stopping by!
